| The
art of decoupage began to flourish in the late fifteenth century. Elaborate
printed designs were used to decorate furniture which was then coated
with many layers of varnish to create a painted effect. The industrial
revolution in the nineteenth century brought about the mass production
of decoupage papers which made the craft of decoupage more accessible.
The founders of the Arts and Crafts Movement of the late nineteenth century
recognised the importance of hand crafted goods. The movement redefined
the role of craftsmanship. Their wish was to move away from the mass production
of the Victorian era and make quality, hand crafted goods.

hand crafted designs'
By using modern decoupage techniques,
and taking inspiration from the past I am able to create modern and traditionally
inspired pieces for your home. The method I use can be applied to almost
any material from glass to plastic, and metal to wood. |
